Internationally acclaimed contemporary ink artist and Harvard Graduate School of Design researcher Mr. Qin Feng personally visited the scene to engage in face-to-face discussions with the audience about his creative philosophy.
This exhibition, titled "Two Generations of Artistic Titans: A Cross-Temporal Dialogue of Classics," focuses on the creative journeys and spiritual essence of two artistic pioneers—Wu Guanzhong and Qin Feng. Wu Guanzhong shattered the constraints of traditional Chinese painting conventions with his declaration that "ink and brush equal zero," integrating Eastern and Western aesthetics to pioneer the modernization of Chinese art. Qin Feng, rooted in expressive abstraction, synthesized Eastern and Western philosophies to reconstruct contemporary ink painting through diverse media, propelling Eastern art onto the global stage. The exhibition not only showcases the artistic breakthroughs of these two masters in different eras but also highlights how art has consistently engaged with and led the way in humanistic spirit, aesthetic innovation, and social aesthetic education—from the Industrial Revolution to the Information Age.
The exhibition is hosted by Shuaihao and Ximu as academic hosts, and the curatorial team is led by Li Tiejun, Song Yang, and Fan Xueli. With an international perspective and innovative ideas, it breaks the traditional exhibition mode and constructs a global expression of Eastern art. At the same time, the exhibition takes "industrialization of art and cultural creation" as its practical direction, connecting the entire industry chain of original works, limited edition prints, art derivatives, and art education, promoting art into daily life and serving the public, and helping to promote the popularization of social aesthetic education and the innovation of the art industry.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Hui, General Manager and Exhibition Chief Planner of Baiyaxuan, art theorist Shuai Hao, curator Li Tiejun, and artist Qin Feng delivered speeches successively, sharing the original intention and academic thinking of the exhibition preparation. Subsequently, guests took group photos, visited exhibitions and exchanged ideas, and held a special academic seminar at the Fourth Academy to explore in-depth topics such as the artistic spirit of Wu Guanzhong and Qin Feng, the development of contemporary ink painting, and the future of the art industry. Guests from all walks of life discussed art and the times together.
The exhibition uses classic works as a link to build a dialogue bridge between tradition and modernity, East and West, art and life, allowing the artistic spirit of Wu Guanzhong and Qin Feng to continue to shine in contemporary times, injecting lasting strength into the development of contemporary Chinese art and national aesthetic education. The exhibition of "Century Dialogue" featuring Wu Guanzhong and Qin Feng art will be held from May 1st to August 31st, 2026. It is open to the public free of charge from 10:00-17:00 every Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays.
