2025 Tour of Mentougou International Road Cycling Race Concludes Successfully
On October 14, 2025, the three-day 2025 Tour of Mentougou International Road Cycling Race officially concluded, as the last rider crossed the finish line at Zhaitang Cultural Park. Upgraded to a UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) 2.2-level event on the Asia Tour, this year’s competition, themed "Fashionable Western Beijing, Cycling Mecca," showcased Mentougou's ecological beauty, cultural charm, and developmental vitality to the world through its distinctive racecourses and diverse activities.
The third stage, held on October 14, offered a dual experience of ecological scenic riding and mountain endurance. Starting and finishing at Zhaitang Cultural Park, the riders set off along Zhaitang Street, navigating the winding mountain roads of Zhaiyou Road, the expansive views of Shuangda Road, the tranquil scenery of Shangyan Road, before finally returning to the finish line via the G109 Beijing-Lhasa Line and Xizhaitang Middle Road. This stage featured one Category 2 climb, one Category 3 climb, and one sprint point. The route, which connected ancient villages, vast forests, and river valleys, not only served as an ultimate test of the competitive prowess of the 105 top professional cyclists but also acted as a vibrant showcase of Mentougou's ecological preservation achievements. The lush forests lining the course reaffirmed its status as a "China Natural Oxygen Bar," while the scattered ancient villages along the way highlighted the solid results of eco-town construction, allowing riders to immerse themselves in the unique charm of "Ancient Villages, Temples, and Trails; Blessed Mountains, Rivers, and Land" during their race.
The race officially commenced at 11:00 AM. The flat start saw immediate attacks and counter-attacks among the peloton. Following a fierce contest, Clement ALLENO of the Spanish Continental team Burgos Burpellet BH claimed victory with a solo finish, securing the stage win and simultaneously taking possession of both the Yellow Jersey (General Classification) and the Green Jersey (Points Classification). His teammate, Carlos GARCIA PIERNA, earned the Polka Dot Jersey (King of the Mountains), while Tegshbayar BATSAIKHAN of the team Roojai Insurance retained the White Jersey (Best Asian Rider). In the Team Classification, the Spanish Continental team Burgos Burpellet BH emerged as the biggest winner, with St George Continental Cycling Team and Wuzhishan Scom MVMT Cycling Team taking second and third place, respectively.
The 2025 Tour of Mentougou International Road Cycling Race was hosted by the Chinese Cycling Association, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, and the People's Government of Mentougou District, Beijing. It was organized by the Beijing Sports Competition Management and International Exchange Center and the Mentougou District Sports Bureau, and exclusively operated by Beijing Shizhi Shanshui Culture Communication Co., Ltd. The event deeply integrated the core brand of "Western Beijing Blessed Land Mentougou." From the first day's course traversing the Miaofengshan Ecological Corridor, to the second day's circuit race demonstrating urban vitality, and the third stage's Zhaitang Ancient Trail Scenic Route, every kilometer of the race connected Mentougou’s ecological resources and cultural heritage, showcasing the city's essence of "Blessing of Mountains and Waters, Blessing of Culture, and Blessing of Development." Beyond the professional competition, mass fitness cycling tours, a bicycle brand exhibition, and an outdoor lifestyle market were held concurrently, attracting nearly 3,000 citizens and cycling enthusiasts, extending the vitality of "Western Beijing Blessed Land" to the public. The "Racecourse Economy" spurred by the event is already showing initial success. The Tanwang Road and Miaofengshan Road cycling routes, which have been selected for the "China Cycling Map," have become premium routes for cycling enthusiasts in Beijing and across the country, driving the development of culture, commerce, sports, tourism, and agriculture along their paths, achieving the long-term value of "One Event Activating an Entire Area."
As a key measure for Mentougou to build its "Northern Cycling" brand, the significance of this international race extends far beyond the competition itself. The event serves as a vivid practice of the "Two Mountains" concept (lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets), transforming the ecological advantage of a high forest coverage rate into a development advantage through the "Ecology + Sports" integrated model, aligning with the district’s positioning as an "International Mountain Sports Destination" in its brand building strategy. Furthermore, the imagery of "ancient camel bells transforming into speeding wheels" on the racecourse makes Mentougou an open window for showcasing Western Beijing's culture and ecological charm. The participating teams from over 10 countries and regions deepened their understanding of the development achievements of China's ecological conservation areas through the race, effectively boosting the city’s visibility and reputation.
A relevant official from Mentougou District stated that the district will continue to use sports events as a link to deepen the coordinated development of ecology and industry, ensuring the brand influence of "Western Beijing Blessed Land" reaches the world through more international platforms in the future.
