Transportation is an important support for opening up to the outside world. It can be said that without smooth and efficient major gateways and corridors, there would be no major opening-up and development in Jiaxing.
Located in the core economic region of the Yangtze River Delta in China, Jiaxing boasts natural locational advantages and immense development potential.
In the process of advancing high-standard opening-up, Jiaxing has established a new positioning as an important central city within the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. To this end, Jiaxing has also clearly put forward the goal of building itself into a "hub city".
In terms of aviation, the construction progress of Jiaxing Airport has been continuously "updated". Currently, the airport runway has been fully completed, and the main project is expected to be fully finished by the end of 2024. The airport plans to complete its test flights in July 2025 and ensure its official opening in December. Upon completion, Jiaxing Airport will become a specialized aviation cargo hub and also serve as a passenger branch airport with an annual passenger throughput capacity of 1.8 million. In recent years, the local government has actively built an airport-adjacent industrial system, strengthened the modern logistics industry, developed cross-border e-commerce, cultivated airport-adjacent manufacturing, and aimed to create a global aviation logistics hub.
By 2027, Jiaxing will have established "four major hubs" including a highway hub, a railway hub, an aviation hub, and a sea-river combined transportation hub. It will basically achieve full population coverage of three "half-hour transportation circles" for intercity, urban, and downtown travel, as well as one-hour commuting within the central Yangtze River Delta region. Jiaxing will also basically complete its goal of becoming a high-level transportation powerhouse.
Part2. Strengthen The "Robust Strength" Of The Open Economy
In recent years, Jiaxing has actively promoted the high-quality development of an open economy.
A crucial aspect of this is investment attraction. As the source of economic development, the precise selection of investment attraction projects determines the long-term development potential of the regional economy. Since the beginning of this year, Jiaxing has implemented the "Bringing In" initiative to attract large and strong enterprises, actively creating a "strong magnetic field" for investment attraction, resulting in a dual improvement in both the quality and quantity of projects.
In Jiaxing, foreign-invested enterprises account for about 15% of the city's above-scale industrial enterprises, contributing to about 25% of the above-scale operating revenue, about 30% of the above-scale export delivery value, and about 40% of the above-scale total profit.
In terms of attracting large and powerful enterprises, Jiaxing's "performance report" is equally impressive. From January to September of this year, Jiaxing successfully introduced 160 investment projects from Fortune Global 500 companies, with a total investment exceeding 1 billion Chinese yuan. The number of projects is 1.5 times that of last year, and the total investment amounts to 311.99 billion Chinese yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 59.7%. Both the project filing rate and land acquisition rate were faster than those in the same period last year.
To achieve a high level of opening up to the outside world, it is crucial not only to attract high-quality enterprises but also to facilitate the overseas expansion of high-performing enterprises. Jiaxing has actively promoted foreign trade, with new drivers of foreign trade continuously gaining strength.
In addition to encouraging enterprises to "go global," Jiaxing is vigorously cultivating multinational "leading enterprises" and guiding them to make orderly layouts worldwide to enhance the resilience of industrial chains.
Part3. Polish The "Gold Business Card" Of The Business Environment
On December 3rd, the first "Juying Card" in China was issued in Jiaxing, and foreign expert representatives from 11 countries and regions, including the United States, France, India, and Ethiopia, received the first batch of "Juying Cards." As an integrated card combining the Foreigner's Work Permit in China and the Social Security Card, holders of the "Juying Card" can enjoy 264 services in eight areas of people's livelihood, including government affairs, medical insurance, transportation, culture, and tourism.
Through this innovative integrated card system, Jiaxing aims to attract more high-level international talents to gather in the city, providing them with a more convenient and efficient living and working environment. This will promote international exchanges and cooperation, helping Jiaxing achieve a higher level of openness and development in the process of globalization.
